Who we are:
Dharmachakra Buddhist Center is a Buddhist
meditation center in northern New Jersey. We offer instruction in
meditation and Buddhist spiritual practice. We envision a world based
upon compassion and inner peace, where anyone who wishes can travel the
path to enlightenment. We are building this world one mind at a time.
We are dedicated to helping you find
happiness from within your own heart and real solutions to your problems
through Buddha’s advice.
We provide instruction in Buddhist
meditation and we promote the teachings and ideals of Kadampa Buddhism
in northern New Jersey.
We can help you gain experience of
Buddhist spiritual practice and accomplish lasting inner transformation.
We seek to create a bodhisattva community,
founded upon cherishing others, that transcends regional boundaries,
cultural and economic divisions.
The New Kadampa Tradition is a lineage of
Buddhism that is practiced worldwide and is independent of any Asian
culture. This lineage was first introduced to the West in 1976 and since
then has spread to more than 36 countries and 600 centers worldwide.
This lineage originated in India and Tibet, and is presented in
contemporary form by the life and works of Venerable Geshe Kelsang
Gyatso. Over nineteen books written by this prolific meditation master
constitute the core teachings of contemporary Kadampa Buddhism. These
works are unique and authoritative presentations of Buddhist practice as
it has been handed down over the centuries from Indian and Tibetan
masters.
Meditation is for everyone, from those who
seek relaxation to those who wish to follow the Buddhist spiritual path.
Buddhist teachings are for everyone,
regardless of spiritual background, and you do not need to be Buddhist
to benefit from them. Buddhism is not evangelical.
Buddhist teachings are intended as
practical advice to solve inner problems and benefit others.
Bodhisattvas are those who are motivated
by compassion to develop their own highest potential. We strive to
embody the ideals and examples of such extraordinary individuals.
A bodhisattva community will come into
being when each of us learns to cherish others deeply and without
exception. Serving Berkeley Heights, Brick Church, Chatham,
